Art Paris and Marie Claire, a leading magazine committed to defending the cause of women, have joined forces to launch in 2025 a prize for women artists in partnership with Boucheron.
A prestigious jury will come together to choose a winner from amongst the women artists presented by galleries exhibiting at the 2025 edition of the fair. After their deliberations, the winner will be awarded a prize totalling 30,000 euros that will be presented by Boucheron during a special evening event at the Grand Palais on Saturday 5 April 2025. In addition, Marie Claire and Art Paris will organise an international campaign to promote the work of the winning artist.
This prize will reward both the career of a unique woman artist and a body of work that has pushed back the limits.
Guillaume Piens, Art Paris Director:
"Working to reinforce the visibility of women artists by creating a prize in partnership with Marie Claire - a magazine that has already greatly contributed to the cause of women’s emancipation - is the logical next step. Already in 2019 (as part of a focus on women artists in France) Art Paris was one of the first fairs worldwide to invite AWARE: Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions, an association founded by Camille Morineau. The collaboration with Boucheron was also self evident and it is headed by two remarkable women who stand out thanks to their creativity and innovative spirit. Boucheron CEO Hélène Poulit-Duquesne and Creative Director Claire Choisne are both driven by the same desire: to push back the bounds of the high jewellery sector."
Pour Hélène Poulit-Duquesne, CEO of Boucheron:
"Innovation and creative audacity have been an integral part of the company’s identity ever since 1858. Creative Director Claire Choisne and I see it as our duty to perpetuate the original vision of Frédéric Boucheron. We are proud to be supporting the Her Art Prize, which is the perfect embodiment of our values and a good way to showcase the work of women artists. This initiative is not only an opportunity to take stock of the progress that has been made so far, but also to realise just how far there is still to go for women in the art world. In our opinion, gender diversity is vital because it enhances the way we see the world. For Boucheron, this prize is an opportunity to support a talented artist and to contribute to fashioning a more egalitarian future for everyone working in the creative industries."
Pour Katell Pouliquen, Editor-in-Chief, Marie Claire (print and digital editions):
"Marie Claire showcases creativity in every size, shape and colour, giving pride of place to women artists and creatives, whether they are painters, photographers, musicians, writers or visual artists etc. In the field of contemporary art, putting emerging artists in the limelight is one of our responsibilities we take very seriously indeed, artists whose body of work often resonates strongly with contemporary issues. It is an honour to team up with Art Paris and Boucheron to give even greater visibility to our editorial ambitions and convictions: women artists have a message for all of us!"
